LAST DAYS' PROPHESY Foreword

The bible can be interpreted in one of three or a combination of three ways: LITERAL, SYMBOLIC, and/or SPIRITUAL. If the interpretation tends to contradict another passage(s) of scripture, it should be disregarded.

To establish a doctrine, principle, or belief based upon one scripture or passage is highly dangerous. Example are the doctrines of snake handling, once saved / always saved, and baptism in the titles father, son and Holy Ghost.

The difference between "tribulation" and "wrath" needs to be clearly understood. TRIBULATION is that which Satan sends against the church. WRATH is that which God sends against the world. A new meaning of tribulation is the retaliation of this world for the lack of God's blessings.

One has no right to assume anything else but that the SEALS, TRUMPETS, and VIALS are in natural order.

THE REVELATION

(Written 94 A.D.)

Revelation Chapter 1

Verse 3 give us all a great promise in that if we would just read this book God would bless us. This blessing does not come by understanding, though I believe this will bless, but by taking the time and energy to read.

Throughout the study of Revelation, you will find the term WHICH IS, WHICH WAS. AND WHICH IS TO COME. This term gives strong indication that the Lord has not raptured His church. This term seems to be a key to show that the Lord's coming appears to be still in the future tense.

Verse 19 is one of the KEY VERSES to understanding how this book unfolds. John was instructed to write in the 3 tenses as God ordained. He was to write the things which:

1. THOU HAST SEEN (PAST TENSE). This is the vision that John had just seen (The Revelation of Jesus Christ).

2. THE THINGS WHICH ARE (PRESENT TENSE). This is the churches of Asia.

3. THE THINGS WHICH SHALL BE HEREAFTER (FUTURE TENSE).

    Notice that in verse 20 the 7 stars (pastors of the churches) and the 7 candlesticks (churches) ARE. This means that these churches are in the present tense, not in the future as most teach them to be. This is further verified in verse 11 where God instructs John to only write one book and send it to all seven churches which ARE in Asia.

Revelation Chapters 2 & 3

    These chapters are addressed to the angels (pastors) of the seven churches that existed in Asia at the time of John's writing. Notice again that John did not write to these in the future tense but in the present tense. There is no hint in these writings that these 7 churches represent 7 successive periods of church history, but, rather, conditions of church situations at large. The fact that only one book (same book) was sent to all 7 churches further proves that all the churches received the same instructions and each church was made as example for the other churches (Rev. 1:11).

Some of the problems in teaching this "modern day" philosophy of 7 church periods are as follows:

1. All of the churches are Gentile churches. This automatically leaves out the best church God ever had; that is, the 1st Church of Pentecost, headed by the chosen apostles and men like the Apostle Paul (all Jews).

2. The first church period (Ephesus) begins about 20 years after the Day of Pentecost. That period in church history was the time of tremendous growth. It was the time that the entire New Testament was written and all the ministries of the great apostles was carried on. And, yet, John says the Church of Ephesus was a backslidden church.

3. The fifth church period (Sardis) was during the time of reformation according to church history, and, yet, John says that Sardis was a dead church.

4. The sixth church period (Philadelphia) was the church period between "Reformation" and the great outpouring of the Holy Ghost in the beginning of the 20th century. This, again, is preposterous because the Philadelphia church was the best church John wrote to.

5. The seventh church period (Laodicea) is the period in church history of today (end-time church) where there is, and is to be, a great outpouring of God's spirit. And, yet again, the Laodicean church was lukewarm and probably the worst church John wrote to.

I believe the true message about the writings to the 7 churches are that we need to examine them in order to see the church situation and conditions of that day, and compare them with the similarities of today, and understand that their solution is the same solution for toady. These situations of church are as follows:

1. CHURCH OF EPHESUS - A church of false pride; they had lost the original meaning and love that had been theirs in the beginning.

2. CHURCH IN SMYRNA - A church that had tribulation and poverty, but was rich in God.

3. CHURCH IN PERGAMOS - A church "dipped and dyed" Jesus name, but had became very liberal in their standard of holiness.

4. CHURCH IN THYATIRA - A working, giving and loving church, but had a "charismatic spirit and divided congregation.

5. CHURCH IN SARDIS - This church was very complacent. The only important thing was just coming to church. The spirit of revival and evangelism had slipped away.

6. CHURCH IN PHILADELPHIA - The church in the church, rapture ready, tried and tested, faithful to the end.

7. CHURCH OF THE LAODICEANS - The church that probably had the greatest calling, potential and resources, but they had a "tumed-in" spirit. Their pastor had lost control of the church and the new government was "the rule of the people".

Those that embrace the teachings of the seven successive church periods seems to have to, and do, teach the DECLINE OF THE CHURCH before the rapture. There are those who have, in order to teach the rapture taking place at Rev. 4:1 tell us that God is going to rapture the "last day" church (Laodicean) and this church will be lukewarm, faithless, and CHRISTLESS. I don't see how any "spirit-filled" saint would entertain such a concept. This teaching is an insult to every generation of the church age. If the early church had to endure what they endured to be saved. God is not going to allow this type church to rapture with them. I don't think I want to go with them either.

Revelations Chapters 4 & 5

    The "modem day" interpretation tells us that the rapture takes place at Rev. 4:1-2. Without serious consideration and proper study, one might draw this conclusion; for this passage would indicate a possibility that the church did rapture. However, when one begins to seriously study these chapters, it becomes evident almost immediately that this is not the point of rapture, nor is there even a small indications of rapture.

    John has just concluded that portion of his vision, that is with the past and present, and which was an earthly vision. Now he sees a door open in heaven. Rev. 5:6-8 tells us that there was four beast, four and twenty elders, the Lamb, and the "prayers of the saints". Notice there is no mention of the "saints or the church". Now, it seems to me that if this is the "rapture of the church", the church surely should be mentioned. Another problem I see is that we are to rapture to the "mid-way air", not directly to heaven. It also is worthy to note that the voice John heard was the first voice, and this voice did not sound a trumpet, but, rather, sounded like a trumpet "talking with me". John never tells us that the church is caught up at this time; he merely informs us that he (John) was translated, and that is only in the spirit. This book was written for the comfort and direction of the church to be able to face the tribulation of that day or the day of the coming of our Lord. If the church is gone, there would be no use or purpose for the rest of the book.

If the rapture takes place at the beginning of chapter four, the following passages of scripture are out of context:

1. Rev. 4:8 tells us that the four beast are still worshipping Him, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, which is, and is to come.

2. Rev. 6:9-10 speaks of the 5th seal being opened. There is an altar of the slain saints. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, 0 Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth. If we have raptured, there is no need for an altar, nor will we be spending our time asking Him for vengeance, but, rather, we will be worshipping and praising Him.

3. Rev. 5:8, John see the prayers of the saints. After rapture there will be no more need for prayer.

    The 4th chapter describes the four beast that were round about the throne, full of eyes before and behind. One was like as a lion, the second like a calf, the third had a face as a man, the fourth like a flying eagle. There are all kinds of interpretations and ideas of what these truly mean. I am sure that they are symbolic. They could possibly represent an angelic host, but it seems more reasonable to me that they represent the entire fullness of the Genesis creation in all its various powers. We have read and understand the meanings of the "four winds of heaven", and the "four corners of the earth". These four creatures also represent the four groups of the animate powers of creation. Thus we see the ceasing of the groans of creation spoken in Romans chapter 8 and now all of God's creation is a creation of praise when it becomes heavenly, or when sin no longer can touch it.

    This chapter also describes 24 elders that fall down before Him that sat on the throne and worship Him that liveth forever and ever. Most scholars of Revelation would probably agree that these represent the 12 tribes of Israel of the old testament and the 12 apostles of the new testament. Rev.21:12-14 tells us that the 12 gates to the heavenly city, new Jerusalem, were named after the 12 tribes of the children of Israel, and the wall of the city had 12 foundations which were named after the 12 apostles of the Lamb. Notice again that there is no Gentile representation in all this heavenly group which should make you wonder about this Gentile raptured church. Rev. 5:11 give us another account of this heavenly vision. It tells us that he saw the beasts, elders and more than 100,000,000 angels, but where is the church? The contrast of this scene is in the 19th chapter of Revelation where the marriage of the Lamb is described. Here we find the beasts, the elders (v.4), but also much people (v.1). The reason for the difference is that in Rev. chapter 19 the rapture has already taken place, and, therefore, we find the church represented in the host.

    What is so important in this passage is that John sees Him that sat on the throne holding a book in His right hand written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. John hears the declaration that there is no man in heaven nor in earth or under the earth able to open the book or loose the seals. Then came forth the Lion of the tribe ofJuda, the Root of David. BEHOLD THE LAMB having 7 horns and 7 eyes which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. Again, why send the 7 Spirits of God in all the earth if the church is raptured, and why loose the seals and reveal the mystery of the book after rapture? The truth is the prophecy of this book belongs to the spirit filled saints of God — the church.

    The argument has been made that the word "church" is not mentioned after the 3rd chapter of Revelation, thus the church must have raptured. To take such a flimsy concept is to insult the integrity of the Holy Ghost church. To make such a statement is to say that there is a difference between God's saints and God's church. The word "saints" appears on numerous occasions after the 3rd chapter of Revelation. One who would make such a distinction should read Daniel chapter 7. V. 18 tells us the "saints" of the most high shall take the kingdom and possess it forever. V.21 says that the beast will make war with the saints and prevail against them (this could not be spiritual), until the ancient of days comes (rapture) and judgment is given to the saints of the most high (v.22). V.25 tell us that the beast shall wear out the "saints" for a period of time, times and a divided of times (3 1/2 years). V. 27 promises us that the kingdom under the whole heaven shall be given to the people of the saints of the most high. CONCLUSION: IF THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CHURCH AND THE SAINTS, I WANT TO BE A PART OF THE SAINTS.

Revelation Chapter 6

    Chapter 6 opens with the Lamb beginning to open the seals on the book. This beginning causes the noise of thunder. The first four seals revealed four horses, white, red, black, and pale respectively, each with a rider upon it.

    This white horse comes on peacefully with a bow but no arrows, but it conquers and goes forth to conquer. This seal appears to be a power that is not in natural weapons, but rather a rule or influence that has the support of the government of this world. In studying the book of Daniel, one will find the image (Dan. 2) and the 4 beast (Dan. 7) which describes the 4 literal kingdoms that have ruled this world. What is interesting is that the 4th kingdom (Roman) never died but rather went into perdition. This seal would seem to show us the rise again of this Roman Empire spirit, but, this time, in the form of a religious mode. If one studies one will find that it was customary in the Roman army the victor would return home riding on a white horse.

    The red horse seems to indicate bloodshed and/or warfare. This color represents wrath and anger causing heated passion and violent emotion. This seal probably is tied into communism. It is the power drive and authority which will enforce the desires of the antichrist.

    The black horse represents world-wide famine and shortage of food. Under this seal will probably come programs to ration and distribute food on a world-wide basis, thus, moving us just one step closer to the complete takeover of the beast.

    The pale horse represents a period of tremendous loss of life. These deaths come about by war, famine, and even creation turning on man. One fourth of all the earth will die during this period.

    The conclusion of these four seals is that God is bringing judgment acts over a sinful and antagonistic world. These acts of judgment seems to be in a general sense of the work, either for good or for evil. The purpose seems to be for the chastising of man. It also becomes clear that, just as Israel had to face the first portion of the plagues of Egypt, so must the church during this period.

As the 5th seal is opened, we see the souls of those who had died for the gospel crying from under the altar to be avenged, but they were told that they would have to wait until those of the end-time church would complete their mission which included being killed for the truth.

    The opening of the 6th seal ushers in tremendous acts of nature and creation becoming unkind to man. The devastation will be so intense that men will cry for the rocks and mountains to fall and hide them from the presence of God, yet we find no repentance.

Revelation Chapter 7

    This chapter begins with telling us that the events that will be described take place after the first six seals and before the seventh seal. The events begin with four angels standing on the four corners of the earth holding the four winds of the earth. This is symbolic in nature in that it represents the power that God has given to them to administer over nature. They are instructed to hold their power and not hurt the earth until the servants of God have been sealed in their foreheads. It further tells us who these servants of God are — all the tribes of Israel. Now what this passage is really telling us is that God is going to turn back to Israel at this time with a tremendous revival that will usher them into the mainstream of the church. This will set them up for the 70th week prophesied by Daniel that will consummate, or complete their punishment for sin, and graft them back in to the tree. This passage describes in detail that there are 144,000, 12,000 from each tribe, all Jews. This gives us convincing proof that God is going to turn back to the Jew and Israel will be a part of the church, not to be saved outside the church, nor for God to institute another plan to save Israel. To teach such is to blaspheme Calvary.

    Verse 9 tells us that "after this" John beholds in heaven a great multitude which no man can number consisting of all nations, kindred .peoples and tongues. This group "stood before the throne" clothed in white robes and palms in their hands. At the same time John sees all the angels, the 24 elders and the 4 beasts. The first inclination would cause one to think that the church has truly raptured and is with the Lord. However, with proper analyzing one will find several problems with such a conclusion. First, the "white robed" multitude stands "before the throne" and the angels, elders, and beasts stand "around the throne" and then fall "before the throne." This shows us that the multitude is still not a part of this elite group. If they were I see no need for, at least, the elders being there because they are only representatives of the old and new testament saints. You need no representative if you are already there. Secondly, notice the difference that the two groups say when they approach the throne of God. The multitude is still crying for salvation while the heavenly host falls on their face and worships God. There would be no reason for the cry of salvation if we are already with the Lord. The truth is, the church in all generations have presented themselves before the throne of God. Thirdly, when we rapture, we will not meet the Lord in heaven, but, rather, in the mid-way air for the marriage supper of the Lamb. Only after millennium does new Jerusalem come down out of heaven.

    In verse 13 one of the elders questions John as to his knowledge of who are these dressed in white robes, and where did they come from. John tells him that he does not know but would like to know the answer. The elder informs John that this multitude are they that have come out of great tribulation and have been washed in the blood of the Lamb. It is interesting that we have not yet come to the point of great tribulation. This period is after the seventh seal has been opened which begins in the eighth chapter. From this we come to understand two points. One, this multitude is not the complete church but those who came through a certain period of the church, and, two, this period has not even happened when John sees it. It is in the mind of God as if it has already happen, but in the future as it relates to prophecy. Verse 15 tells us that this group is before the throne of God. To be before the throne means to be remembered. It further tells us that God shall dwell among them. The word "shall" indicates that it has not yet happened.

    The chapter closes with the statement that this great multitude shall never hunger or thirst, weather will not affect them, the Lamb shall feed them, and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. Again note that these thing shall happen, meaning that it has not yet been accomplished. This also means that the church is still in existence on the earth. If not, there would be no tears or hunger for God to take care of, for when we are with Him, we shall be like Him, and the former things will be past away, and behold, all things will become new.

Revelation Chapters 8 & 9

    Chapter 8 begins with the Lamb opening the 7th seal. This opening causes such an affect on heaven that worship and praise totally ceased for a period of one half an hour. This had never been before nor will this ever be again, but the awesome events that unfolded at the opening of this final seal was so overwhelming that even the heavenly host had never encountered such a sight. John then sees 7 angels come before God and receive each a trumpet. It would be worthy to note that no trumpets have been given out to angels previously, which, again, makes one believe that the church has not raptured, knowing that scripture declares this event requires a trumpet sounding. Verse 6 tells us that these angels prepared themselves to sound, meaning they had not sounded but only went through the process of practicing to sound.

    In verses 3-5, we find another angel before the throne having a golden censer. He was then given much incense that was to be blended with the prayers of the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. This altar represents the altar of praise and worship. With this mixture of incense and the prayers of the saints on the altar brought forth a smoke which ascended up before God. The angel then took fire from off the altar and put it in the censer and casted it to the earth. This brought forth voices, thunder, lightings and earthquakes on the earth.

    At verse 7 we see the beginning of the 7 angels to sound their trumpets. The first one sounds and hail and fire mingled with blood fall upon the earth. One third of all vegetation is destroyed. The second angel sounds and one third of all sea life is destroyed, and one third of the sea becomes blood. The third angel sounds and the star Wormwood falls from heaven upon one third of the rivers which caused the waters to become bitter. The fourth angel sounds and one third of the sun, moon and stars becomes blacken, and the days are shorten by one third. Then John saw another angel flying throughout heaven with a loud voice declaring three woes, and explaining that these woes are the last three angels' trumpet sounds that have not yet sounded.

    Chapter 9 opens with the 5th angel sounding his trumpet. John then saw a star fall from heaven to the earth. This star had the key to the bottomless pit, with which he open. There arose smoke like a great furnace and the air was darken. John then saw locusts being released upon the earth. These creatures had the power and sting of a scorpion. They were, however, commanded to only sting those men who had not received the seal of God in their foreheads. They were further commanded to not hurt the earth. We see by these instructions that those who have the seal of God still remain on the earth. Those who are hurt by these creatures will seek to die but death will flee. The torment will last for five months. It seems that God is only giving men an example of the torment of an endless hell.

    In verse 13 we find the sixth angel sounding. John then hears a voice instructing this angel to loose the four angels which have been bound in the Euphrates River. These angels were given an army of 200,000,000 horsemen that were to go into the earth and kill one third of all men. Their weapons produced plagues throughout the earth that should have brought men to repentance, but those who survived this terrible ordeal refused to repent or give up their lifestyle or worship, which included devil worship, sorceries, murdering, stealing, and fornication.

Revelation Chapter 10

    This chapter begins with John seeing another mighty angel coming down from heaven. This statement again sets up the stage for where the action is happening. John is and the scene is still on the earth, thus indicating that no rapture has taken place. This angel has a little book in his hand and the book is open. Some claim that this book was the "Seven Sealed Book". I find some problem with this theory because the events leading up has been the details of events which occur at the opening of the seven seals. It also seems out of context to reveal the book at this point, understanding that we are between the sixth and seventh trumpet of the seventh seal. This does not appear to be the proper place to introduce the book. However, whether it is or not, we do have a similar set of circumstances that exist in Daniel 12. Daniel is instructed to shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end. (Dan. 12:4) Here in John's writings we find seven thunders uttering their voices. John is about to write, no doubt what he had heard, when he heard a voice from heaven telling him to "Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not. It doesn't seem logical to present this situation with the thunder without coming to the conclusion that their message would be revealed at the proper time. That time seems to correspond with Daniel's book and probably was what was written in the little book that John saw.

    One of the key verses to the understanding of Revelation and all the words of prophecy is verse 7 of this chapter. This verse explains that the mystery of God would be finished in the days when the seventh angel (last angel) begins to sound his trumpet. What is the mystery of God? The Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Cor. 15 that he shows us a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. He further verifies this in 1 Thess. 4:13-17. Jesus verifies the same in Matthew 24. In this chapter the disciples ask Jesus what will be the sign of His coming. Jesus reveals to them many things they can look for, but reveals that one sign in verse 31. That sign is a great sound of a trumpet. The conclusion of all of this is that the rapture will take place at the beginning of the sounding of the seventh trumpet and not before.

John is finally told to take the book from the angel. The angel tells John to take it and eat it up, and it will be sweet in his mouth and bitter in his belly. John obeyed and it was so. John is then personally promised that he will be delivered from his present situation in order to go and continue his ministry to many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings.

Revelation Chapter 11

    In this chapter we find the establishing of religious boundaries which will exist in Jerusalem, namely, on Mt. Moriah, at the end-time. It gives us strong proof that the temple will be rebuilt, but, also, that the worship centers of other religious group will continue to exist along with Israel's temple. In fact, Jerusalem will, apparently, become the headquarters for Jews, Christians, Catholics, and Moslems. This passage seems to be verified in Dan. 8:11-14, 9:27, and 12:11.

    All of this seems to be leading us up to three very important things; first, there comes a revival in Israel; next comes the rise of the beast to full power; and, finally, the Lord raptures His church.

    Verse 3 tells us that God is going to send His two witnesses with a ministry of power for 1260 days. These are the two olive trees spoken of by Zechariah in chapter 4, that gives fuel to the end-time church. They are men of God with the same anointing that Moses and Elijah had. Moses was the law giver, and Elijah was a type of the spirit. Spirit and truth is the power of the church. This passage also seems to parallel Ezekiel chapters 37-39. These passages tell us that Israel receives a great revival in the last days, not by building back the temple, but by receiving the spirit of God. After that, this mighty army of Gog literally comes to annihilate Israel from the face of God's earth. But God has something to say about that. He will answer with an earthquake, pestilence, overflowing rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone, and the bloodshed will be unthinkable. This army of Gog will consist of forces from Russia, Turkey, Libya, Iran, Ethiopia, and possibly Iraq. Notice that the true Arab nations are not involved. Only one sixth of this mighty army will survive. It will take Israel seven years to burn the weapons and seven months to bury the dead.

    Only after the two witnesses have finished their ministry of restoring Israel back to God through the revelation of Jesus Christ, and the Jews are a part of the bride of Christ, does the beast step forward in full power and slays these men of God. This is the first mention of the beast in the entire Book of Revelation. For 3 1/2 days the bodies of the two witnesses lie in the streets of Jerusalem. All the world views their bodies and rejoices. Its the largest party the devil has thrown since Jesus was in the tomb. But just like our Lord, these two come forth with resurrection power and are "caught up." This is not the rapture but it does end the second woe and the sixth trumpet.

    Verse 14 tells us that the third woe (seventh/last trumpet) comes quickly. This does not mean it comes immediately, but soon. This is probably what Jesus was referring to in Matt. 24:22 when He tells us that except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

    The seventh angel sounds in verse 15. The inhabitants of heaven begin to respond with worship and makes declaration that the Lord God Almighty is moving in His great power and ready to reign. Verse 18 tells us that the nations are angry and God's wrath is come. I believe that this is the point of rapture. Dan. 12:12 says that this period is 1334 days. There is no doubt that this is the time the church will be with the Lord in the air. This is the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

    What this means to the church is that we will go through the 3 1/2 years of the beast reign. This is the period of Tribulation. We will, however, be with the Lord during the last 31/2 years of the beast reign. This is the period of God's wrath upon this earth. There is no such thing as a period of Tribulation and Great Tribulation; but, rather, a period of Tribulation and a period of Wrath. Tribulation is basically Satan's fury against the church, and Wrath is God's anger against the beast, false prophet, and those who received the Mark of the Beast.

Revelations Chapter 12

    This chapter unfolds as an allegory. An allegory is a story which has hidden or symbolic meanings. Notice that what appeared was "a great wonder in heaven." This means that it was a heavenly vision. What this chapter does is take us on a history and prophetic trip of heavenly history and prophetic ending of the church.

    The first thing John saw was the wonder of a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars. She is also with child, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. Verse 5 tells us that the woman brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God and to his throne. Then we find the woman fleeing to the wilderness, where God has prepared a place for her. There she is to stay for 1260 days and will be fed by divine providence.

    The second wonder John sees is the war in heaven where Satan and 1/3 of the angels rise up in revolt. They are then cast to the earth and stood before the woman as she delivered her child, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

    The scene changes as a declaration is made in heaven that there is now a redemption plan and the power to see it happen. The story closes with the woman taking wings and flying to the wilderness with the serpent trying to get to her and destroy her; but he could not.

    This woman is Israel and the church, which is one and the same in spiritual terms. The child is the sonship, the man Jesus. This flight that the church takes is not the rapture, but, rather, the promise that God is going to keep the church through the 3 1/2 years of the Beast reign. He will feed us, like he did Israel in the wilderness, even when we are not able to buy or sell. Verse 16 tells us that even the earth will help the woman. We must also understand that the dragon is going to make war with the church in the last days. It is going to be a fight all the way, but the church prevails; for God is on our side.

Revelation Chapter 13

    This chapter begins with John standing upon the sand of the sea. There he sees a beast rising up out of the sea. This beast had seven heads and ten horns. The horns had crowns upon them and the heads bear the name of blasphemy. This beast was like a leopard, with feet like a bear, a mouth like a lion, and the dragon gave him his power and his seat and great authority. Notice that this beast's appearance is identical to that of the dragon in Rev. 12:3. It is also worthy of our consideration to compare his features with the features of the beasts in Daniel 7. The leopard represents the Grecian empire, the bear represents the Medes and Persian empire, and the lion represents the Babylonian empire. This only leaves one other beast and empire and that is, the Roman empire, which this beast represents.

    John then sees one of the seven heads as it were wounded to death; and then that deadly wound was healed. This miracle caused the entire world to wonder after the beast, which results in the world worshipping both the dragon and the beast. They even declared that no one could make war with this power. This beast spoke like none else. His message was to blaspheme God, the name and the church. He was given power to make war with the saints for forty-two months, and to overcome them. There have been suggestions that this is not the church this beast comes against, but, rather, Israel. But anyone who has made any serious study of the term saints knows that this term applies to the believers. There is but one church and will never be but one church. If Israel is saved, they will be saved in the church. To preach another salvation plan is to blaspheme Calvary. Furthermore, God will not have part of his church in the air and part on the earth. For there to be two brides would violate everything God stands for.

    In verse 11, John sees another beast coming up out of the earth. This one had two horns like a lamb, and spake as a dragon. The mere contrast of one beast coming from the sea and one coming from the earth has to send a message. It appears the message is the joining of the old/natural power with the new/spiritual power. This second beast tries to look like Christ and causes the earth to worship the first beast. He comes with great wonders and powers and is the one who causes men to receive a mark in their right hand or in their forehead. For those who are wise, we will have his number. That number is 666. It is very obvious today that his mark will be in the form of a computer chip. There are already experimentation with these chips going on in some of our states. To accept this procedure and concept makes sense to every human facet. But to the church, we will not give in.

Revelation Chapters 14 - 22

Chapter 14 begins with John seeing the Lamb on Mt. Zion with 144,000, having the name written in their foreheads. These were singing a new song that heaven had never heard, nor could they sing. This vision is the vision of Christ returning to this earth with a special army. Some have concluded that the 144,000 represents the church. I believe they are the same 144,000 spoken of in chapter 7, which were all Jews; 12,000 from each tribe. This is further verified by verse 4 which tells us that they were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. Now, if one has obtained firstfruits, would it not seem reasonable that one would expect fruit afterwards. The logical explanation seems to be that they are the beginning revival of Israel accepting Jesus as the Christ. This group is not the only ones that returns with our Lord, but is that group which accompany the Lamb in His pronouncement of judgment.

    In verse 6, John sees another angel which declares the final message to mankind, and that His judgment is come. This angel is following by a second angel which declares that Babylon, that great city, is fallen. This is the city of the mother of harlots, which is Rome, After this angel comes a third angel declaring that all who worshiped the beast and his image and received the mark were judged to be eternally doomed to God's wrath and punishment. The chapter closes describing the harvest of the earth.

    Chapter 15 describes the events taking place with those who overcome the beast, his image and his mark. They are singing the song of Moses, and the song of the Lamb. It also tells us of the seven angels which have the last seven plagues which will be poured out upon the earth. They are then given seven golden vials by one of the four beasts. These vials contain the wrath of God.

    Chapter 16 begins with the seven angels being told to go and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth. These vials are described in detail. These are those things that will fall upon the earth during the 3 1/2 years after the rapture. Verse 16 also introduces us to the battlefield called Armageddon. This is the place of the battle which will bind Satan for 1,000 years, cast the beast and the false prophet into the lake of fire, and usher the church into the millennium.

    Chapter 17 describes the great whore, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Verse 7 tells us that she rides the beast which had seven heads and ten horns. Verse 9 explains to us the meaning of the seven heads, They are the seven mountain (hills) that the woman sits on. Verse 18 tells us that the woman is the great city which reigns over the kingdoms of the earth. This is a "present tense" statement. This has to mean that the city is Rome, because this is the city of seven hills and it was Rome that ruled in the day the Revelation was written. According to verse 12 the ten horns are ten kings which have no kingdom as yet; but will receive power as kings one hour with the beast. It seems that these kings will turn on the woman, and then give their kingdoms to the beast.

    The final five chapters goes into detail to explain how some of the end-time events will happen. Chapter 18 explains how that Babylon (the woman) will fall. Chapter 19 explains the marriage supper of the Lamb (rapture). In chapter 20 we learn of the events surrounding the first resurrection. Two of the points explained are that Satan will be bound 1,000 years, and the church will rule and reign with the Lord right here on earth for that 1,000 years. Chapters 21 & 22 tells us about the splendors of heaven (New Jerusalem), including the gates, foundations, precious stones, the light of that city being the Lamb, and the river and the tree of life. It concludes with letting us know that Jesus continues to remain first and last, that men can find eternal life, and the warnings of adding or taking away from this book.

    This book is declared in its title given by man that it is "THE REVELATION OF SAINT JOHN THE DIVINE." This, however, does not correspond with the inspired writing itself. Revelation chapter 1, verse 1 plainly tells us that it is "The Revelation of Jesus Christ." TO HIM WE GIVE ALL THE HONOR, GLORY AND PRAISE!

THE BEAST The Abomination of Desolation

    Matt. 24:15 "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

    Mark 13:14 speaks of the same thing except instead of the term "holy place" he says he will be "standing where it ought not".

    Where is this place that it stands? The mere term "holy place" indicates a place of religion but, more than that, a place where God and his anointing should dwell. The term "where it ought not" tells us that it has usurped and replaced almighty God and his position with man.

    I believe if we examine biblical "abominations" we can then begin to understand how this one will move. The following passages contain scriptural definitions of those things that God has declared as "abominations":

1. GRAVEN IMAGES OF GODS MADE WITH SILVER AND GOLD (Deu. 7:25)

2. TO CAUSE OUR CHILDREN TO PASS THROUGH THE FIRE, USE DIVINATION, BECOME AN OBSERVER OF TIMES, AN ENCHANTER, A WITCH, A CHARMER, A CONSULTER WITH FA­MILIAR SPIRITS, A WIZARD OR A NECROMANCER (One who claims to be able to foretell the future by alleged communication with the dead) (Deu. 18:9-12)

3. JUST WEIGHTS AND MEASUREMENTS (Deu. 25)

4. THE 7 THINGS THAT GOD HATES: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among the brethren. (Prov. 6:16-19)

5. A FROWARD (not easily controlled, willfully stubborn) HEART (Prov. 11:20)

6. THE SACRIFICE OF THE WICKED (Prov. 21:27)

7. THAT WHICH IS HIGHLY ESTEEMED AMONG MEN (Luke 16:15)

    So, what is our conclusion out of all of these things? It is that these are the devises that the Anti-Christ spirit is going to and is using in order to usher in his reign to full power. It is the spirit of the original sin of "humanism" which is the root of all these "abomination". It is the creation of us being our own God and doing our own thing as long as we move with the spirit of this world. It is the destruction of "holiness".

    In Daniel 9 we find the prophecy of the seventy weeks. This study will conclude that a day is equal to one year, or a week is seven years. Dan. 9:27 speaks of this end-time week that the beast will make a treaty with Israel for seven years. This covenant will allow Israel to serve God as they desire. During this time Israel has accepted Jesus as Jehovah God and has become the headquarters of the church. Daniel tells us that in the middle of this week, which is 3 1/2 years, that the beast will break this covenant with God's people and no longer allow them to worship and will destroy the house of God by the "overspreading of abominations" until the consummation (the rapture) and that determined (the vials in the book of Revelation) had been pour out upon the desolate (those that took the mark of the beast).

    Daniel further verifies this in chapter 12:10-13. This passage lets us know that there is a tremendous end-time revival at the same time the world comes to the height of wickedness. He then tells us that we (the church) will go through a period of 1290 days that the Anti-Christ will be in full power and will not allow us to formally worship. He will make every attempt to destroy God's people, but will fail. At the end of this 3 1/2 years, Jesus will come for His bride and catch us away. John verifies Daniel's account in Revelation chapter 11 and 13. Chapter 11 tells us about the temple, altar, and worship in Jerusalem. Verse 2 tells us that there will be desolation of the city for 42 months. It also ushers in the ministry of the two witnesses during that time and the first mention of the beast in the book as he comes to full power at the end of the Moses and Elijah's 42 months revival. Chapter 13 talks about the ministry of the beast for 42 months, making war with the saints, another beast (false prophet) arising to work with him, and the establishment of the "mark of the beast" which all men will be required to receive if they want to buy or to sell. This event closes the 13th chapter and the 14th chapter begins with the events of rapture and the return of our Lord. This causes me to believe that the inception and confrontation of receiving the "mark of the beast" will be the final battlefield before God catches His church away, and we then shall ever be with the Lord.

GOG & MAGOG (Ezekiel 38-39)

To begin, we notice that before Gog puts in an appearance Israel has been restored to its own land. More than that, its condition is one of complete security. The people no longer need to crowd behind the walls of cities for protection; they can dwell scattered about the land in unwalled villages. They have returned home enriched with cattle and goods. Divine judgments have eliminated all their enemies that they may dwell in the midst of the land. (v.l2)

We notice next that the host marshaled behind Gog are not drawn from the countries historically hostile to Israel, nor from the civilized world at all. They are barbarians from beyond all known territory, men of strange races accustomed to war and athirst for plunder, robber bands which break in upon the settled population to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, and to seize great spoil, (v. 13) (2) Joining with Gog in this invasion will be Persia (Iran), Ethiopia, Libya and Gomer. (v.5)

Sheba and Dadan (both descendants of Abraham/Arabs) and the merchants of Tarshish (a distant region), giving special note to their young lions (warriors, will question the invaders of their intent to spoil and destroy Israel. This shows that the entire world, including the Arab world, will look on during this invasion. Zech. 12:3 shows that all people shall gather together against Jerusalem. Yes, this even includes the United States.

    No doubt this league of powers (to be referred to as the ARMY OF GOG),which will unite against Israel, will be considered by all as one of the strongest, largest, and well-equipped armies which this world has ever seen. Considering the size and population of these countries, it is quite possible they will man a force 100-200 times that of Israel.

    In that day (latter days) when the Army of Gog invades, they shall come like a storm to cover the land of Israel in one great attack to completely destroy everything that Israel has accomplished. But watch as the Lord himself will intervene. There will be a great shaking in the land of Israel. The fury of Almighty God will be stirred as He calls for a sword. He will rain an overflowing rain upon Gog with pestilence, blood, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. The Lord will magnify and sanctify himself that the heathen (Arabs) and many nations shall know that "I AM THE LORD." It is not until this time that the House of Israel (as a nation) will know who God really is. Ezekiel 39:29 says, "Neither will I hide my face anymore from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the House of Israel, saith the Lord."

    The Army of Gog will be will be turned back and only the sixth (1/6) part will be saved. The slaughter of Gog will be so great that:

1. It will take Israel 7 years to burn the weapons.

2. A special place called Hamongog shall be set aside to bury the invaders over by the Dead Sea.

3. All the people of Israel shall help bury the dead which will take 7 months to complete.

HISTORY OF THE INVADERS

After the flood, as the waters descended, Noah's ark came to rest on Mt. Ararat. Ararat is in the general area of the border of Russia, Turkey, and Iran (Asia Minor) in the vicinity of Lake Van. (1) From there the sons of Noah scattered to various regions.

Noah had one son whose name was Japheth. Japheth remained located in this general area where the ark came to rest (from south Europe to Iran).

Japheth had four sons whose history are as follows:

1. Gog - In the Bible, a northern people (Magog) often identified with the Sythians, whose ruler was Gog. (3)

2. Tubal - A country in Asia Minor. (1)

3. Meshech - A people and country in Asia Minor. (1)

4. Gomer (Cimmeria) - This people (nomads) invaded Asia Minor, Ararat, Tubal and Meshech. (1)

    Gomer had a son whose name was Scythian and whose kingdom was associated with Ararat and Minni. They were the pushing force behind the Cimmerian invasion of Asia Minor.(1)

    It appears that the families of Gog and Gomer are very closely related together, both being identified with Scythians. They also seem to have dominion over their other brothers. However, we have one important distinction; that is that Gomer, Tubal and Meshech are definitely associated with Asia Minor, but no Gog. They are the PEOPLE OF THE NORTH.

    When examined a little closer, you find that Asia Minor is that portion of Asia which extends as a peninsula between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, corresponding with modern Turkey.  However, our mystery lies in the area of the land in the north. Look north of Israel. Directly above them are Lebanon and Syria (Arabs); north of these countries lies Turkey (Asia Minor), and north of Turkey lies none other than RUSSIA. Russia covers all the land north of Turkey to the North Pole (the most extreme northern point).

    Therefore, if Gog was separated as a people who existed into an area north of even his brothers (Asia Minor), there seems but one place to be considered. That land is RUSSIA.

    Ezekiel, in so many words, spoke of this people of the north as barbaric. Let us examine a little of the history of Russia.

RUSSIA

    The ancient Greek historian, Herodotus, described the customs of the warlike Scythians, a people of Iranian origin, who ruled from the 8th to the 3rd century B.C. in what we know as Russia. Russian history properly does not begin until the middle of the 9th century A.D. when the Varangus (Vikings) descended overland from Scandinavia and united Eastern Slavs.

    During the 13th century A.D. new Asiatic tribes (nomads) invaded. The Tartars, a Mongol people ruled Russia. The new rulers, cruel and competent, applied the efficient and centralized methods of administrative control that they had learned from the Chinese. Exact population censuses were taken, taxes were collected and recruits were impressed into the military.   Families and even whole towns were held collectively responsible for the act of any one of the members. (3)

    We can see from this small extract that Russia's entire history is filled with barbaric revolution, rule, and bloodshed. Communism is the most heartless and barbaric system which we know today. We have seemingly seen a dramatic change in Russia's government and structure. Please don't become confused by the smoke-screens being thrown up in this end-time move. Communism is still alive and Bible prophecy is still on track.

Maybe you are wondering why Ezekiel didn't pinpoint this people (Gog) in more definite terms. There is probably more than one reason. Maybe it was because of us today; that we might search out that which is in the Word of God more deeply. However, Ezekiel wrote this prophecy in approximately 587 B.C. If you will notice, Russian history, as we know it today, only began in the 13th century, or about 1800 years later.

COMMENTS: It appears the following stages of the last days will come in this order:

1. Israel has been restored as a nation and is possessing the land God promised to her.

2. Peace truce comes between Israel and the Arab world.

3. Israel is invaded by the forces of Gog.

4. Israel prevails as God literally fights their battle.

5. Israel, as a nation, accepts the Lord in revival.

6. The rise of the Beast (Antichrist).

7. Our Lord's return for His church.

THE MYTH OF PRE-TRIBULATION RAPTURE

    One of the most amazing concepts and teachings of the Christian world is that of a "Pre-tribulation Rapture." The reason it is so amazing is that it is embraced by probably 90% of all Christian faiths and, yet, has no biblical basis when all scripture is taken into account and rightly divided. One might ask, "If this is true, why would so many from so many religious backgrounds accept such a teaching." The answer is very simple. The want to believe it, because it is the easy way out. That also amazes me because the Christian way has never been the easy way out as far as flesh and society is concerned. That alone should make a Christian skeptical.

    The truth is, the bible is full of statements and teaching that contradict the myth of pre-tribulation rapture. Jesus explains to us in Matthew chapter 24 that the Anti-Christ must be seen by the elect (church) before that day and that the days would be shortened in order for the elect to be saved. It further tells us why the days are shortened; because of the great tribulation. (v.21) Starting with verse 29, Jesus explains to us the events immediate after the tribulation of those days. Verses 30-31 gives us the specific sign of the Lord's coming. That sign is a great sound of a trumpet. This trumpet sign is further verified by the Apostle Paul in I Thess. 4:16-17. In the 15 chapter of I Corinthians, verses 51-52, Paul even tells us that this event takes place at the sounding of the last trumpet. Revelation confirms Paul's declaration. It teaches us that there are seven angels with trumpets that sound, but verse 7 of chapter 10 tells us which one. "But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. What is this "mystery of God?" Paul tells us in the 51st and 52nd verses 1 Corinthians chapter 15. "Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not sleep, but we shall all be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

    Two other parts of the myth try to tell us that the term "elect" is not church, and the Jesus could come at any moment and as a thief in the night. Both of these theories are biblically unfounded. It has been said that if it be proven that the Church is God's "elect", then there can be no question as to when the Rapture of the Church will take place. It will take place "immediately after the Tribulation."

    The truth is; the bible does confirm that the Church is the "elect." In Romans chapter 8, Paul is writing to the church of the hope in Christ Jesus. He addresses those he is writing to as ''God's elect." Paul tells Timothy that he had endured all things for the "elect's" sake. This has to be for the church. In Colossians chapter 3, Paul makes it perfectly clear that the "elect" is the church and not Israel. Verses 10-12 shows us that Paul is speaking about those who have put on the "new" man (Christians). He further explains that they are neither Greek or Jew, circumcised or not, barbaric, Scythian, bond nor free; but it is Christ that is all, and in all. They are then addressed as the "elect" of God. This is the Church without question. One might say we need verification from the mouth of more than one witness. Peter begins his first epistle even calling the strangers scattered throughout several regions as the "elect" simply because they had been chosen by God through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.

    Not only these two great men of God teach us that the church is God's elect, they did not believe in the "imminent" coming of the Lord. Both expected to die and go by the grave. Surely Paul was preparing the church for that in II Tim. 4:6 when he states, "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Jesus informed Peter that he would live to be an old man. (Jn. 21:18) Peter apparently believed the Lord for he addresses the situation in II Peter chapter 1, verses 14-15. Peter writes these words, "Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. Moreover I will endeavor that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance." How could Peter or Paul be expecting the Lord to come at any moment as men teach today. This would be a direct contradiction. The truth is; the early church did not believe in the "imminent" coming of Christ, nor did the preachers of the Reformation, like John Wesley, Martin Luther, John Knox, John Calvin, Matthew Henry, and the list goes on. In fact, there appears to be no evidence of any group believing that the Rapture could take place at any moment until the year 1830. In that year, a fifteen year old girl by the name of Margaret MacDonald proclaimed that she had received a revelation from the Lord that the Church would be raptured before the Tribulation. Edward Irving of the Irvingite Church of Scotland was her pastor. He accepted her revelation and began to preach this new doctrine. It was not long until the Plymouth Brethren accepted this teaching, and, with its "easy on the flesh" impact, it has spread throughout the church world for the last 165 years. What a deception! Several years ago I was attending a bible conference. One of the afternoon sessions was a panel of three ministers representing the three different views of the point of rapture. As they each brought their points of belief, I, very quietly begin showing the people on the pew where I sit, not my opinion, but what the Word of God said. The Holy Ghost moved me through the Word in amazing fashion. These ministers could hardly believe what I was showing them. When the allotted time for the panel's discussion expired, they were no where near finishing the discussion. I will never forget how the one minister, who chaired the panel and believed in a pre-tribulation rapture, concluded with, "Brethren, just take my word for it; the Lord will rapture the Church before the Tribulation. He gave no scripture to base his remark on, only his popularity with the crowd. I am convinced that it would be better to not believe anything than to believe a lie.

SUMMARY

1. A "secret rapture" can not be found in scripture. Quite the contrary. The teachings of Jesus plainly tells us that all tribes of the earth shall see Him in the clouds at His coming. (Matt. 24:29-31) (Mark 13:26-27) (Luke 21:27-28) (Rev. 1:7)

2. Most preachers preach that the Lord will come as "a thief in the night." This is not true for the believer, only for the world. The church will be watching and waiting for His coming. (I Thess. 4:4-6) "But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober."

3. The Pre-tribulationists have had to invent a way for there to be a group called the "tribulation saints" which are spoken of in Rev. 7:13-17. Their basic message is that God will send the two witnesses to save Israel after the church has raptured at Rev. 4:1. This is why they say that the "saints" are Israel and not the church. Some of them will go so far as to say that the old testament teaching of blood sacrifice will be reinstated for their salvation. To teach such a doctrine blasphemes Calvary, and Jesus did not die for all men, but for a predominant Gentile church. The very thought that the church is Gentile is an insult to the Cross, and who Jesus really is. The facts are, there is no scripture basis for anyone being saved after the rapture. If these teachings are true, then we would have one church in the rapture with the Lord, and one church on earth. A two church concepts violates the very principle of who God is. If God is anything, he is oneness. There are no separations in Him. HE IS ONE! In fact. He does not even separate His church from Him. We have been declared by scripture to be the very "body of Christ."

4. There would be no purpose for an Anti-Christ to arise in the last days after the rapture. The very fundamental meaning of Anti-Christ is to be against Christ. For this to happen after the church is gone is redundant. I've got more confidence in God than to think that He thinks in such unreasonable terms. IT MAKES NO SENSE. Not only that, it violates the Word of God and the intent of God. The church will be as "gold tried in the fire." Rev. 7:14 speaks of the group which "came out of great tribulation." This has got to be an end-time church (revival). The very fact that they "came out" tells us that they "went into" for there is not no way you can come out of anything you have never been in.

5. One final question. Why would ministries spend endless hours and years studying end-time prophecy, including writing books, and conclude that the church raptures at Rev. 4:1, and that the rest of Revelation does not pertain to the church? I cannot conceive that God would let John spend the time writing it, which would be the only part of the bible that doesn't pertain to the church, nor these ministries wasting their time on something that is not important to the church. THERE IS SOMETHING NOT COMING TOGETHER HERE. Maybe someone can share that light with me.
