The Traveler With Dyed Garments
By Elder Nina Pierce

"Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah, this that is glorious in his apparel traveling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousnes mighty to save." (Isa. 63:1) Edom was a rugged country, as Bozrah was a fortified place Isaiah saw one rising and coming to the people I even though the conditions were rugged he was fortified. John the Baptist came; preaching in the wilderness. He came to prepare the way of the Lord, to make his paths straight. (Matt. 3:1-3) Then as Jesus came He began to meet opposition on every side, but he had the endurance of hardships and sufferings without giving way under strain. Isaiah saw the garments of this mighty one, and they were stained as one that had treaded the wine vat. These stains were the bloodstained garments of Calvary. Here our Lord suffered alone and bled and died. Oh! The glory of that apparel. I love the garments that were stained for me. This one that Isaiah spoke of was Jesus, traveling in the greatness of His strength. Travel means to journey to a distant place. Our God came from a far country. He left His heavenly abode to come to earth in the greatness of His strength. He was traveling in this lo land of sin and sorrow. In His greatness He forgave sins, healed the sick, turned the water to wine, raised people from the dead and did many other miracles that only God could do. Jesus speaks in righteousness. He knew no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth. He always spoke in righteousness. When He met the woman of Samaria at the well, He asked her for a drink, so that He could tell her about the living water. This spoke He of the Holy Ghost, which was not yet given. This woman believed on Jesus and told others about Him. (John 4:7) Jesus is mighty to save. This was His purpose in the world. He came to destroy the works of the devil and save those that were lost. He didn't shun the ruggedness of His traveling, nor turn away from His hardships and sufferings. He taught men the way of Salvation and came to bring a new and living way. He taught His disciples so that they would be able to teach others. After Christ had been crucified and buried, He rose the third day. This was the glorified Christ. When Jesus met His disciples one day, in an appointed mountain, He said to them, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." (Matt. 28:16-20) Notice as Jesus gave the commission He said,, "Teaching them to observe all things..." The first thing we need to observe is: the name is singular. Next observe Father is not a name, Son is not a name, Holy Ghost is not a name. They are titles showing relationship. Then we need to observe, "Whatsoever I have commanded you." He was speaking to the disciples. On the day of Pentecost when the Holy Ghost had just been received in its fulness, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, Peter with the eleven stood up, and Peter said: "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38) This way of salvation is the reason Jesus made His long journey to this earth. Praise His dear name.
