The Providence of God
Provide means the act of providing; exercising foresight; divine guidance and care. Provide is to supply for use. "This is the hand that is stretched out upon all nations (Isa. 14:26) The hand of God is stretched out upon all nations. It is by His hand that over thirty years ago He started me out to preach the message of truth. When I would stand alone, without one word of encouragement and it felt as though my lips were turning blue, I would feel the hand of God take hold of me to renew strength and give me courage. Who shall turn back the hand of God or ask what is He doing? There is none. God foresaw this Assembly and it is by His divine guidance that you were raised up. The day I preached my first message and stood on the courthouse steps, saw this day thirty years later when you would stand here with me. We are the people of God. It was our time to move when He called. In a strife-torn world filled with the opinions of men, we have not lacked. I can truly say with Paul, "According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me in the ministry," (I Tim. 1:11-12) God has committed His gospel to my trust, and during my ministry I have tried diligently to be faithful. If I preach a message, I live the message. I don't ask my people to do anything I would not do myself. God never separated Paul, more than He has separated us unto the gospel of God. He purposed that we obey His word. Every builder must have a plan and understand what he is doing. In the natural if a carpenter fails to follow the blueprints of a building, it will be a failure. So will it be spiritually if we fail to read and obey God's plan. I am so glad that God and His truth are just the same today. God knew what He was doing in providing for us. As I faced this world with its false doctrines, I knew I had a task ahead in fighting to get men to see God's way; the Oneness of God, the remedy for our sins and what we must do. Peter said we must "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38) I am thankful today that the present truth has reached me and taught me exactly what to do to be saved. We must not lose heart or faith in this wicked age. We must keep the love of God while we fight against the forces of men and evil. A mariner, hears and obeys orders. Let us never stray from the high standard of Holiness that God has entrusted to us.
