STEADFASTNESS
Steadfast-firm, fixed, settled or established, constant,
not changing fickle or wavering. 1st. Cor. 15:57-58, "But thanks be to
God which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore,
my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the
work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in
the Lord." May I say I am grateful for the faithful saints all through
the ages--and yes, the faithful saints of God today, who can say with the
Apostle Paul in Rom. 8:38-39, "For I am persuaded, that neither death,
nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present.
nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall
be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord." But then I am moved with compassion and concern for those I see
losing their steadfastness-their zeal-their desire-their concern for their
own spiritual welfare and the work of the church in general. Paul wrote
to the church at Galatia in Galatians 1:6-7, "I marvel that ye are so soon
removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another
gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you and would
pervert the gospel of Christ. Marvel means to be astonished or surprised.
How can we be enticed to stray from-yes even leave and deny a truth we
once held sacred and divine??? I too marvel. Paul continues his admonition
to the Galatians written in Gal. 5:7-8, "Ye did run well; who did hinder
you that ye should not obey the truth? This persuasion cometh not of him
that calleth you." I think it is time for us to consider our ways and our
condition. 2nd. Cor. 13:5-6, "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the
faith prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus
Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? But I trust that ye shall know
that we are not reprobates." At Miletus Paul addressed the Ephesian elders.
Acts 20:22-24, "And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem,
not knowing the things that shall befall me there: Save that the Holy Ghost
witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. But
none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself,
so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have
received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God."
Heb. 10:38-39, "Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back,
my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw
back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul."
May God help you.
