"Let us draw near hither to God (1st Sam. 14:36). I feel definite that we as the people of God have reached a certain point that requires us to draw near to our God. As we look upon the signs on every side of life, it is easy for us to discern that time itself requires us to resist the enemy in his many deceptions and draw nigh to Him who is able to give victory in a time or trial such as the world has never known before. The priest in the day of Saul the King of Israel as stated in the text above saw that a drawing nigh unto God was necessary and he stated, "Let us draw near hither"-meaning this is the time and place. Beloved, this is the time and place that our assembly and God's children everywhere should by all means be seeking wisdom and favor for this particular time. Too many of us live in the yesterdays, we should robe ourselves with the qualifications to stand true to Jesus in battle for this time and place. The battles of today are different from those in the past, let us seek the Lord with a spiritual and open mind for those things we need in this time and place. And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee; and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed (Isa. 29:11). The word of God today to those who fail to draw near to God with an open heart is a sealed book to them. One cannot see deep spiritual things unless your eyes are anointed with oil (Spirit). The doctrines and teachings of most men today are taught by the precept of men and not of God; therefore they will not stand nor suffice the deep hunger in the hearts of those who are seeking out for deeper truths. For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish (Psm. 73:27). Friends, it is so important to be near the Lord in this perilous age. If you are at a distance from Him you will soon lose strength and perish, but why perish? Jesus is that spiritual bread and water and He says to all, Come! Let us draw near with a true heart (Heb. 10:22). To be true is: faithful; loyal; genuine; rightful; correct. Yes, Christian soldier, we as never before, should be drawing nigh to Jesus, but coming near to Him it is well to note the necessity of our faithfulness to his cause. If we are untrue to a good pastor and our church we cannot be anything but untrue to our Saviour and our God. I pray that Jesus will help us to hue to the line and live loyal to this holy cause that in the end we will be saved.
