SEEK THE LORD
BY ELD. EMMETT ALLEN
"Seek the Lord". "Seek ye the Lord while he may be found call ye upon him while he is near" (Isa. 55:6). The soul of man is a priceless possession; Jesus asked what the profit would be if one should gain the whole world and lose his soul? We only have one time in which to live and make preparation for eternity and that short space is now. How is it with your soul? Where will you spend your eternity? We are living in a busy age, men are running to an fro; every time the clock ticks someone is called off the stage of action. In our own cities and communities every week there is death. We read an see suicide, murder, accidental deaths, natural deaths. My friends, it is high time for you to wake up and seek God on the behalf of your judgment bound soul! Remember the text, Seek the Lord while He MAY be found. The most powerful weapon the devil is using today is the lie that you have ample time and can be saved at any time/place you so decide. Without the call of God you cannot come to Jesus and you may rest assured of this fact He doesn't call to individuals every day! The multitudes that came to John's baptism knew there was to be a day of God's wrath. John asked them, Who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come (Mat. 3:6) The word "wrath" means indignation. You may be assured, my friend, that someday Jesus will be revealed from heaven in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (2nd. Thes. 1:7-9). As sure as my fingers are on the keys of this typewriter, God will have the last word with you! There will be no hiding place, there will be no one to plead your case! If you live and reject God's saving plan (Acts 2:38) you will die and face His word in judgment--a guilty, undone, unprepared, never dying soul. Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord (Heb. 10:30). It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. I warn you to seek His mercy and pardon before the curtain falls on you and never again will mercy be found. Backslider, if you will return to the Lord, He will RETURN to you (Mal. 3:7). Aren't you tired of that life of defeat and running from the master? Don't you know you are fighting a losing battle? Why spend your fleeting years here in despair, and then die and go to an everlasting hell for eternity? Come back to Jesus today! Make right your wrongs in so far as possible and let Jesus clothe you as He did the prodigal of old. Trust Him because He loves you and is right now looking for you without a doubt on the cold mountain side of sin and shame. Come to Him, now, won't you?
