SEAL OF GOD
Rev. 1:19, "Write the things which thou hast seen and the things which are and the things which shall be hereafter."  God appeared to John on the Isle of Patmos and told him to write that he had seen.  Rev. 9:4, "And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads."  We know that a seal is a mark that gives a distinction from anything else.  So John saw a people with a seal that were to be different from any other people.  God has always had a way of showing who His people are,  In Exo. 12:22 He told Moses, "And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning." (Exo. 12:29) "And it came to pass, that at midnight the Lord smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharoah that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle."  God did not spare the King's son neither the man that was in the dungeon's firstborn but only those that had the mark of blood on the door lintels.  That was God's way in Moses' day to tell his people from other people of the land.  In Ezekiel's day God spoke to Ezekiel (Eze. 9:4&6), "And the Lord said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.  And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite; let not you eyes spare, neither have ye pity.  Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women; but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary.  Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house."  If God had a seal or mark in Moses' and Ezekiel's day He also has a seal for His people now. (Rev. 14:1,3) "And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.  And they sung as it were a new song before the throne and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth."  Here was a number of people that had the Seal of God in their forehead. (John 5:43) Jesus said, "I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not:  if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive."  If anyone comes in his father's name it has to be the same, so Jesus is the name of the father so that name has been fixed as a seal to the people of God or the Church which were the people that John saw following the Lamb.  (Acts 4:12)  "Neither is there salvation in any other:  for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."  So no wonder He said in Rev. 9:4 to not hurt these that had the seal.  This is a commandment of God for no one to hurt His people that are wearing His name.  There is going to be a mark or seal that if a man take it he will perish and that is the Mark of the Beast. (Rev. 13:16) "And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads."  All that do not have the Seal of God will take the Mark of the Beast.
