SANCTIFICATION A SECOND DEFINITE WORK OF GRACE
Heb. l3:12, Wherefore Jesus also that He might
sanctify the people with his own blood suffered without the gate. This one
"little" word, ALSO, in this verse, will explain that our
sanctification comes through the blood of Jesus. The word also means, likewise,
in like manner, as something additional, tending the same way, besides as
well. Rom. 3:24, Being justified freely by his grace. In additional to my
justification, I was sanctified in like manner. There are people today that
despise this wonderful experience of sanctification through the blood of, Jesus.
Heb. 10:28, He that despised Moses' law died without mercy. Heb. 10:29, Of how
much sorer punishment suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden
under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of this covenant wherewith
he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of
grace? The word despite means scorn treat with contempt. People will reproach
you and hate you if you tell them you are sanctified. I rejoice in the reproach
I have suffered for this sweet truth; for it was the sanctifying power in the
blood of Jesus that purged my conscience from dead works to serve the living
God.
Jesus prayed and suffered for us to he sanctified.
Jesus prayer in St. John 17th chapter to the Father (Spirit), not to take them
out of the world but go give them an experience that would keep them from evil.
Jesus said they were not of the world, and that he had kept them in His Father's
name; but they needed to be sanctified. "Sanctify them was His prayer. In
the 13th verse, He prayed for them to have His joy. Luke 24:52, And they
worshiped Him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, to tarry for the Holy
Ghost; and were in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen. Luke 24:53.
We highly honor the blood of Jesus, and its great work
of forgiveness and sanctifying His people! --- But, the scriptures positively
read, St.John 1:13-We are not born of the blood. St. John 5:3--But we are born
of water and of the Spirit.
