Saints, Keep Looking Up

For thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all (1st. Sam. 30:8). David and the people who were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep. This mourning among the saints of God was for power to look up and regain the substance lost because of the enemy's attack on them. Their cities were burned with fire and their sons and daughters were taken captive; indeed this was a time for prayer and soul-searching! David, a man after God's own heart was greatly distressed. The people talked of stoning him because they were grieved in the loss of their children and homes. David encouraged himself in the Lord (1st. Sam. 30:6) 0, how the saints of God in this day should seek to encourage themselves in the time of battle! The enemy will seek to steal, destroy, divide and damage the work of God; let us rise up in new strength and see the never failing promises of God. These divine promises will cause our faith to rise to a new height in Him; our hearts will suddenly find and feel new strength to carry on in the battle. When David encouraged himself in the Lord he inquired of the Lord, saying, "Shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them? And he answered him, "Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all." (Ver. 8) What a glorious promise! All that had been lost in battle was to be recovered under certain circumstances and conditions. God said, Pursue! Your loss will not be recovered unless you rise up and take the initiative. But, God said Go! You will recover not just a part, but ALL. Saints, very often we think of those we have lost in battle; let us take new courage and rise up with the same God with us and pursue in Jesus' Name for that which is lost. Jesus said, "There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's but he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time." (Mark 10:28-30) Yes, Jesus, will help us to regain and recover all that has been lost, if we will "pursue". If you will read 1st. Sam. 30:18-19 you will see where David made a full recovery of his loss. This was only accomplished, through the blessings of the Lord. The greater our battle the greater our faith must be! The Devil is agitating on every side with threats and seemingly victories. Let us pass by one another with a good word and make pursuit as never before to bring the wandering back to the fold and regain any strength lost because of battle!!!
