FOR he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. Psm. 107:9.
The only people in the world who are truly happy are the people who have met Jesus on His terms and know Him without a doubt as their personal Saviour! The person who really knows Jesus in an experimental manner has a peace of mind and a calmness of spirit that only heaven itself affords! Jesus explained this glorious feeling by saying, These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)
The world today is filled with religious sham. Great "church joining" is practiced by shaking the preacher's hand, signing a card or some other manner where the Spirit and power of God are absent! As a result there is no New Birth as Jesus taught in John three and five. There is no conversion as spoke of by the apostle Peter in Acts three and nineteen. There is no change of heart, no feeling, no experience! As a result the same old life is lived as before the "church joining." These church members still smoke, tell the same old profane tales, go to the same movies and in many cases drink their same alcoholic beverage! What is wrong? Many of them have been deceived by the preacher and by the worldly church crowd that have never met Jesus themselves! Blind guides, blind leaders and all will fall into the ditch!
We are thankful today that we can point you to Jesus Christ the fountain of living waters (Jer. 2:13). Jesus invited anyone that is thirsty to COME to Him and drink! (John 7:37-39) We realize that many "broken cisterns" are offered today to satisfy the longing heart (notice Jer. 2:13). A broken cistern holds no water and consequently cannot satisfy! Paul spoke of the last day in saying they would have a form of godliness but deny the power . . . (2nd. Tim. 3:5) We are in that time right now! Many religious services are called "worship" but no real worship is there. In order to WORSHIP God acceptably it MUST be done in SPIRIT and TRUTH. (John 4:24) The Father seeks such to worship Him that will worship in spirit and in truth. Cold formality has driven the Spirit of God from many churches! Pride and shame has insulted the Holy Spirit until He no longer lingers! May God help the people who still believe in the altar of prayer and the power of God to hold on without compromise. The Spirit of God is still real to the believer!
In the outside world today we see the poor drunkard as he staggers under the influence of drink. We can see the gambler and ungodly man as they stumble on in their sin. In many of these poor hearts there is a "cry" for God and His spiritual waters to quench the thirst of the soul. If we could only hear them today, their cry would be like the blind man of old, Jesus of Nazareth, have mercy on me. They like this blind man, need someone to stop on this journey and do as the disciples did on that day, bring them to Jesus . . . Yes, bring the lost to HIM.
It is good to know that we have real recommendation to make to these poor lost and wayward ones. God's true people are not "clouds without water" but we can point them to the fountain that has been opened for sin and uncleanness. We are thankful that we have something better than a card to sign! We can tell them about the pearl of great price, the lily of the valley, bright and morning Star. He is not a Saviour that saves in sin, but a Saviour that saves from sin! Amen. The Bible says, And he shall save his people from their sin. (Mat. 1:21)
Real deliverance is the need of every soul. Paul spoke of Jesus in this manner: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the Kingdom of his dear Son. (Col. 1:13) Quite often we find people who say, "I love the Lord and want to serve Him, but I can't get loose from certain habits and practices." This person needs God! The power of God is able to break every band of sin that has you bound and make you free in Christ Jesus. There is no sin nor habit but what Jesus can deliver! Preachers, organizations, ceremonies can't do it, but Jesus can! Fall on the Stone and be broken to pieces and then drink of this ever-flowing fountain that satisfies the wish of every heart.
The Lord's salvation can be felt in the heart and life of obedient believers. Paul spoke of the "Spirit bearing witness with our spirit . . . " (Rom. 8:16) Yes, there is a connection with God when we properly trust and obey Him! Many will scorn this position and say it is wildfire and emotion but I thank God that one can know without doubt that He abides by the Spirit that He gives. (1st John 3:24) Peter spoke of this experience as "joy unspeakable and full of glory." (1st. Pet. 1:8) He further spoke of an experience that the angels desired to look into and the prophets searched what, or what manner of time . . . . the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven.
The lost world today is looking for something real! They well know that the dance halls, beer parlors, card tables and other reckless manner of living does not really satisfy. They want something real; they want something different! They see no need to just join the church and keep up the same old way of living; What is the use? Let us tell them in word and example that there is something real and there is something different! Let us tell them that there is something better. There is something eternal and everlasting! Tell them about Jesus, His love and His power to reach them and bring them out of the mire and place their feet on the solid rock, Christ Jesus. Tell them about the new song that Jesus will put in their heart and the happy way they can live in knowing they are saved.
Our God (His name is Jesus) will satisfy YOU today! Just come to Jesus with all your care! Repent as Peter commanded (Acts 2:38) and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and be filled with his Spirit. This is exactly what YOU need! His Spirit will be ever present to lead and guide, He will comfort speak and cheer. No night so dark but what He is near you, no battle so rough but what His gentle Hand will assist. Come to Jesus today!
Remember the poor castaway woman at the well (John 4). She came to Jesus and in Him she found a friend. He gave to her this well of living water! You may have it too. He is no respecter of persons and He loves you right now. Notice this poor rejected woman in John eight, The wicked sought to stone her for her evil, but the Lovely Lord Jesus forgave her! He is just the same today and at His feet you will find mercy and pardon. Why not try Him and see that with joy you may draw waters out of the wells of salvation.
